• Born in 1980, Diego is an awarded independent Filmmaker & Photographer based in Madrid, Spain.

He started painting at the age of 6, then he continued attending classes with some renowned local painters in the North of the country over the years. During that time he was awarded at several national  and regional art contests but never thought of making a career in the art world.

He moved to Madrid in 1999, where he studied Publicity at the University for 4 years. At that time Diego got in touch with photography and began to admire the work of photographers like Oliviero Toscani whose work in between art and communication had a powerful and influential effect on society.

In 2003 he entered the School of Visual Arts at the IED ( Istituto Europeo di Design ) and he obtained a Digital Design Diploma in 2006. His main areas of study at that time were photography, motion and video postproduction. He was particularly interested in the aesthetics of music videos and he was powerfully inspired by the early work of music video directors from the 90's.

In 2004 he retakes traditional painting and at the same time, he begins to explore the creative possibilities in digital art. His art has been exhibited in several cities and main art centres in Spain.

Between 2006 and 2007, Diego completes 14 different postproduction courses that helps him get proficient with some other high end software tools and postproduction techniques while he freelances as a video editor and art director for a few production companies and advertising agencies in Madrid and the U.S.

In 2008 he started working as a project manager for Havas Media and joined a think tank of experts from several disciplines who worked within a special action group under the name of Wonderland Havas with the premise of researching and developing of new creative insights and strategies for the evolving advertising world. At the end of that same year and encouraged by his two of his mentors in the company he decides to move to New York and enroll the New York Film Academy in order to pursue a career in filmmaking.

In 2010 Diego graduates from the New York Film Academy with honors, having being granted the 2009 Brett Ratner scholarship. His early work has been showcased at PhotoespaƱa and he has also received the award of merit at the Best Shorts Film Festival in California for his thesis film.
